Pip Taylor Finishes Second at Lake Lanier, Georgia

Kestrel sponsored athlete Pip Taylor finished second to 2007 Ironman 70.3 World Champion Mirinda Carfrae in the sprint distance event held at Lake Lanier, Georgia. Pip exited the water with a 30 second advantage and then rode strongly to also be first off the bike, claiming both the swim and bike primes. An error heading into T2 saw Carfrae shut down the advantage Pip had and then attack on the run to move away for the victory. 2006 Hawaii Ironman World Champion, Michellie Jones finished third with 2007 Hawaii Ironman runner up Sam McGlone in fourth. Pip said “Iron Girl Triathlons are just so much fun and it is genuinely enjoyable getting out here among all the girls and racing – especially with so many girls who are new to the sport. I was happy with how I raced, you just can’t afford to make errors in sprint distance events and Mirinda put in a great run split today.”
