Kestrel Athlete Matt Wisthoff wins Azalea Triathlon
For the second year in a row, Kestrel's Matt Wisthoff won the Azalea Triathlon this past weekend. Headed next for St. Anthony's Tri, here's Matt's race report:
"Here's the low down on how the weekend went - I ended up winning the Azalea Triathlon for the second year in a row. Overall all, I had a great race. I went almost the same time as last year, but in much more challenging conditions. The air temp was in the mid 40's and it was misting in the morning making the roads really slick. Unfortunately, Set Up had some trouble with the timing systems and I only have my swim split and final time. However, from what I could gather, I held about 23.5 mph on the bike at 299 watts which was ok, but nothing spectacular. I think the cold and bad road conditions had something to do with it. On the run, I'm pretty sure I got well under 17 minutes for the 5k which is great for this point in the season of the bike.
That's it for now. My next tri will be St. Anthony's, but I should be doing some crit's between now and then to help build my bike fitness."
